The Imperial Treasury is in the Hofburg, in the Schweizerhof (the Swiss Courtyard), in Vienna’s 1st district. The official page repeats the list of public transport of the Kunsthistorisches Museum and does not describe the walk to the Schweizerhof, so check your route.

The official Treasury page lists the U2 and U3, tram D, trams 1, 2 and 2A and bus 57A, the same list as the KHM, and says that from the Westbahnhof you take the U3 to Volkstheater and from the Hauptbahnhof tram D to Burgring.
The official site of the Sisi Museum, which is in the same Hofburg complex, lists the U3 at Herrengasse, trams 1, 2, D and 71 at Burgring and buses 1A and 2A at Hofburg. We have not checked these routes to the Schweizerhof with Wiener Linien, so check them, along with the fares.
In a straight line the Treasury is about 100 m from the Spanish Riding School, 270 m from the Albertina, 440 m from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, 480 m from the Naturhistorisches Museum, 570 m from the Stephansdom and 680 m from the Leopold Museum. These are distances on the map, not walking times, which we have not measured.
Baedeker described in 1911 a staircase to the Treasury in the rotunda between Michaelerplatz and Franzensplatz; today the official site places the entrance in the Schweizerhof.
From 7 September 2026 to 31 October 2027 the City Airport Train is replaced by buses to Wien Mitte / Landstraße, which take 21 minutes and connect to the U3 and U4. The Railjet and Intercity trains run non-stop to Wien Hauptbahnhof in about 15 minutes, twice an hour. The REX 7 takes about 20 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof.
Airport bus line 1 serves the Hauptbahnhof and Westbahnhof in about 40 minutes, and the new line 4, from 5 September 2026, serves Karlsplatz, with connections to the U1, U2 and U4. We have not checked the onward route with Wiener Linien, and we did not read the fares: check them with ÖBB and Wiener Linien.
We did not find parking or accessibility details on the Treasury’s own pages. Ask the museum on +43 1 525 24-4409 or at info.sk@khm.at before you travel.
