    In short

    • The Albertina sells tickets in its own online shop, shop.albertina.at, and at its box office: 20.90 € for adults, 17.50 € for visitors aged 65 and over and under 26, free under 19, as of 23 October 2026. The ticket is valid for one year from the date of purchase and admits you once. No time slot is needed.
    • It is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, and until 21:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays. The official site does not publish a last-entry time. At Christmas: 24 December 10:00 to 14:00, 25 December 10:00 to 21:00, 26 and 31 December 10:00 to 18:00, 1 January 2027 10:00 to 21:00.
    • The permanent Batliner Collection runs from Monet to Chagall, and 20 Habsburg State Rooms are open to visitors. The famous drawings and prints are shown only in temporary exhibitions, because they are sensitive to light.
    • Albertina Modern is a separate building at Karlsplatz 5, about 530 m away in a straight line, with its own ticket (17.90 €). A combined ticket for all locations costs 29.90 €, but its third site, Albertina Klosterneuburg, is outside Vienna and is open until 15 November 2026.
    • Our partner Tiqets, a third party, sells the adult ticket at 20.90 €, the same as the official price, with a mobile ticket and the date chosen in advance. Tiqets lists it as not refundable.

Monet to Chagall: the Batliner Collection

The permanent exhibition shows masterpieces of Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism and the Russian avant-garde. Among the works the official site names are Monet’s The Water Lily Pond (1917-19), Picasso’s Woman with a Green Hat (1947) and Chagall’s The Kite (1926), together with Cézanne, Degas, Magritte, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Malevich, Munch, Nolde and Beckmann.

We cannot say which works are on the walls on a given day, because the museum rearranges its displays: the list above comes from its collection pages as we read them on 23 October 2026.

    The Habsburg State Rooms

One of the Habsburg State Rooms of the Albertina, a yellow room with a stove and chairs

For about a century the palace was the residence of archdukes and archduchesses, and 20 of its rooms have been restored with tapestries, chandeliers, stoves, inlays and furniture. The official site names the Hall of the Muses, the Sphinx Staircase, the Wedgwood Cabinet, the Audience Hall, the Gold Cabinet, the Large Spanish Apartment and the Red Tea Salon.

Baedeker’s 1911 handbook describes the building as the palace of Archduke Frederick, built by Montoyer in 1801-04 and altered in 1867 (p. 36).

    Drawings and prints

The graphic collection was founded in 1776 by Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen and holds over a million drawings and prints, from the late Gothic to today, including Michelangelo, Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens, Klimt, Schiele, Picasso and Richter.

It is not on permanent display, because paper is sensitive to light. Works appear in the temporary exhibitions. Dürer’s Hare (1502) is cited by the museum as a highlight of the collection, but we could not confirm that it can be seen today, so do not plan a visit around it.

    Exhibitions, terrace and café

When we checked, the temporary exhibitions included Picasso – Bacon (until 31 January 2027), Otto meets Albertina (until 10 January 2027) and Shara Hughes (until 28 February 2027). The World in Focus closed on 26 October 2026. Check what is on for your date on the official site.

The official site also mentions a view from the museum’s terrace; we could not confirm how to reach it or when it is open. The café-restaurant on Albertinaplatz is open every day from 9:00 to 24:00 and can be visited without a museum ticket.

    Albertina Modern

Albertina Modern is in the Künstlerhaus at Karlsplatz 5 and shows modern and contemporary art. It is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, and when we checked it was showing Vasarely & Adrian until 10 January 2027. The official site speaks of about ten minutes’ walk between the two buildings.

It has its own ticket: 17.90 € for adults, 15.90 € for visitors aged 65 and over and under 26, free under 19.
