Late openings and Christmas

On Wednesdays and Fridays the museum stays open until 21:00. At Christmas 2026 the official site gives these hours for the Albertina: Thursday 24 December from 10:00 to 14:00, Friday 25 December from 10:00 to 21:00, Saturday 26 December from 10:00 to 18:00, Thursday 31 December from 10:00 to 18:00 and Friday 1 January 2027 from 10:00 to 21:00.

Albertina Modern closes at 14:00 on 24 December and is open from 10:00 to 18:00 on 25, 26 and 31 December and 1 January.

No time slot

The Albertina does not ask you to book a time. The official ticket is valid for one year from the date of purchase and admits you once. A ticket from our partner Tiqets is bought for a chosen date, and whether it stays valid after that date we could not confirm.

How long to allow

The official site does not say how long a visit takes. For the State Rooms, the Batliner Collection and one exhibition, we suggest about 2 hours, which is our own estimate and not an official figure. On Wednesday and Friday evenings you have until 21:00, which leaves you more time.

Before you go

There is a paid cloakroom in the atrium and there are free lockers. Bags larger than A3 and backpacks larger than A4 must be left there. Photos and videos are allowed for private, non-commercial use, respecting the bans on individual works. We could not confirm the rules on flash and tripods, and the museum’s terms warn about publishing private photos online, so read them. Drawing in pencil on an A4 pad is allowed.

Free wifi is available, and the shop and the café-restaurant can be visited without a ticket.
